Next Camp: July 10-13 2017
The future is now.
The Glendale Raptors Rugby Academy High School Boys Camp will provide young athletes with the opportunity to become better rugby players and citizens through rugby instruction and life skills instruction from top coaches in a positive and fun atmosphere while making new friends and learning new rugby skills.
The camp (for athletes ages 14 – 18) emphasizes safety and fun, while remaining on the cutting edge of rugby training. Our coaches bring with them the latest rugby skills, strategy and tactics from the international and professional arena along with life skills training. The camp’s seminars with professionals’ increase awareness regarding life skills, strength and conditioning, mental skills training, nutrition and drug awareness. Time will be dedicated to positional, unit, and team skills as well as the laws of the game, sportsmanship, and cooperation. Every aspect of the camp will be dedicated to honor the spirit of rugby.
What to expect
The camp typically runs Sunday through Wednesday and usually culminate with a series of matches on Wednesday morning, and a recognition program, starting at 11:00 AM after which the campers will be released to their parents by 12:00 PM. Parents are encouraged to attend the recognition ceremony and are welcome to observe sessions during the week.
Campers can expect that one of the first activities will be a fitness test. The purpose of the test is to provide each camper with a baseline assessment of their own capabilities that they can then repeat in the coming years to measure their progression as a rugby player.
One of the objectives of the camp is to guide each player toward becoming a student of the game and a person of good character. We look forward to each camper not only developing as a rugby player but also becoming a member of the larger community of the sport of rugby.
