In addition to being a place to strengthen your body, the Glendale Sports Center is a place to strengthen your mind.
Boost your creativity, learn a new skill, or express yourself in any one of an array of programs. These programs aren’t limited to adults: Youth programs cater to children as young as 5. With everything under one roof, members can work out while their children are in class, or they can join a class of their own.

After-school and summer camp programs give children between the ages of 5 and 12 a safe, fun place to play, grow, and learn. Youth can also enroll in specific programs, such as tennis, music, and dance, listed below. All childcare is licensed and staffed by the YMCA.

Develop your artistic side with the help of a pair of art courses offered by the Glendale Sports Center.
The Creative Mixed Media course guides students through the process of a variety of visual mediums, including painting, drawing, cutting and pasting, mixed media, and more.
In the Acrylic Painting course, students will explore one method, in depth. Students will hone their skills in representational and abstract styles and have a chance to practice painting still life, interpret prints and master paintings, landscape, portraits, and more.
Intended for beginner through intermediate skill levels, the courses welcome those 14 years-adult.
Whether your child prefers traditional ballet or contemporary dance moves, Glendale Sports Center has dance classes that will get them moving.
Dance Jam focuses on modern choreography, with a handful of old-school moves for fun. By the end of the course, students will be able to perform a complete dance routine. Dance Jam offers classes for ages 6-12.
Classical Ballet is offered for a more traditional dance experience, where dancers can begin to learn the fundamentals. This class for ages 3-6 teaches the timeless art through the use of stories and imagery.
Learn to play a variety of instruments through music lessons offered by the Glendale Sports Center.
Introduction to Drumming courses expose youth to numerous percussion instruments, including steel drums and hand drums, and many rich, musical traditions such as Caribbean, African, and other world music.
We also offer private and semi-private lessons for youth and adults alike. Whether you have the basics down and want to learn intermediate skills, such as note reading, or have never picked up an instrument we can cater your lesson to your skill level. We offer private lessons in guitar, drumming, and piano/keyboard.
The Rape Aggression Defense System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women, seniors and kids. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a martial arts program.
Our courses are taught by nationally certified R.A.D. instructors and provide each student with a workbook/reference manual. This manual outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth, and is the key to our free lifetime return and practice policy. Our Senior, Women and Kids classes are starting soon!
Our youth Tae Kwon Do program is perfect for children from ages 4 through 12. It features 12 important life-skills taught in an age-specific curriculum that is fun and engaging.
Each week your child will build their confidence learning life skills such as focus, teamwork, respect, and discipline. They’ll gain valuable awareness of their body through coordination, control, and fitness. You will feel confident knowing they can safely act when they practice what to do when faced with a bully or stranger.
Our Karate program is geared to participants 12 years-adult and is a highly respected traditional martial art. Participants will improve their mental clarity, strength, speed, stamina, breath control and posture among many other benefits while learning this fighting art.
