High school girls wrap up championship season
The Raptors got off to a rough start on Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Rugby Colorado Division II Championship match. The team was not in their high-scoring state of mind like past matches throughout the season.
The match kicked off at 2 p.m. at Infinity Park where the Glendale Raptors faced the Highlands Ranch Harlequins. With a 4-0 record against the Harlequins, the Raptors went into the match confident.
It was a tough match for the girls. The game took a turn in the last few minutes when the team decided to get more physical and put in a few extra tries. The score ended 51-36, with a championship title for the Raptors.
Head Coach Robin Roberts was extremely pleased with the turnout. “I couldn’t be more proud of every single girl on the team and all of the hard work and dedication they gave to their teammates, especially with the new format switch from 15s to 7s,” Roberts said. “Because of that and all the great coaches, the Glendale girls were finally able to show off all the talent we knew they had.”
The girls will conclude their 2012 winning season with a team banquet tomorrow night.
